My Console History (Part 1)
Born at 1987 i am clueless about gaming system such as Atari or Turbografx. Maybe it's because I've spent my childhood in a small town in Borneo where technology is hardly accessible. I even born on a small village in the middle of the woods. My father is a foreman in a local lumber mill and spent most of our early years living in the outskirt of the town.
The first console i played was NES. I saw this while we were visiting a family in the town, and that's where my gaming life begins. We didn't come from a wealthy family, so I only had the chance to play this console on my cousin's or friend's house. And just like everyone else here on their late 20's, I've spent most of my childhood playing Mario Bros. or when i get bored, Battle City (Super Tank).

The first console that I really owned was Sega Mega Drive (Genesis). It's a gift from my uncle, since he's graduating from high school. Now, i played nintendo for years, and never even know there are other gaming system exist, Sega is really strange to me . A black console with a sleek design and futuristic (at that moment), smaller cartridge, and 6 button joystick, it takes me a few day to make my self comfortable playing it. But to be honest, that 16bit system was more than enough to amazed me.

A few years later, PlayStation became phenomenal in Indonesia. It was almost a year after it released.
I need to remind you, we're not really a technologically advanced country here. Now imagine how long after the trend finally catch up in my town. Everyone is excited, and I want to be a part of it. So I asked my parents to buy me one (I was 9 at that time). So like every loving parents who doesn't even know what a PlayStation is, at Christmas, they bought me this:

Yep! While everyone else playing CD, i still blowing on cartridge. I can't blame my parents for this, since they wanted it to be a surprise and didn't bother to ask what a PlayStation looks like. A little disappointing, but now all grown up i realize this mistake is really a blessing. I got a chance to play one of Nintendo's best console (along with Nintendo 64), which i would've missed if my parents bought the right system. Even today, I still played the SNES emulator just to remind me of the good ol' times.
It doesn't took long before i finally get my hands on PlayStation. I was just started junior high, and my friends already trading games every month. We used to gather around and play games almost everyday. This console is really what we called the next generation. The 3D game play, the 4 shoulder buttons, and CD media that was really popular in 90's. Does anyone remember gathering up all the CD you can find in the house just to fill your monster collection in Monster Rancher? Good times...

PlayStation introduce me to some franchise such as Grand Theft Auto, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Twisted Metal, Medal of Honor, etc. And it also transitioned some of the best games from 2D to 3D like the FF series, BOF series, Street Fighter Series, MGS and many more.
