Dear...My Future Son

Son, this is the story about how I met your mo..
Wait! that's not it.
Okay, let me start over.

Dear son,
I don't know why I'm writing this. I guess I had to many time on my hands.
I don't even know why I'm specifically address it to a son. Maybe because I never been a daughter myself (yet?).
To be honest, I'm not even sure I live long enough to have you.
...
...
Okay, that's really dark for opening a letter. Let me rephrase that; I'm not even sure if I'm lucky enough to have you.

But, in case one day i will have you, and since digital data can't be erased (that's what my crazy nerd friend told me), one day hopefully you can read this. I may forgot about it, but come on, don't you feel a little bit curious about your old man? You might stumble this on your google search (if google still relevant in your time).

I might not the same person I am today. I'm getting old, cranky, unhealthy, or whatever future illness has got me. But when I write this letter, I am still young and sane (aside from writing a letter for a non-existence kid, that's insane!). But for what it's worth, i believe the future me and the past me will have the same thing in common, we love you so much. You may not believe it now when you see my robotic limbs and my laser eye, but in the past, your old man is really popular. I'm halfway figuring out life myself, and i guess it doesn't hurt to give you some advice trough my experience.

-Be strong, not just physically. You need it to make it trough so much bullshit in your life (I hope you are old enough to read bad words, or your mother gonna be so pissed).

-Just like you are the main actor in your life story, everyone think the same. Everyone had their own stories. Never judge people before you really know them. Don't forget, there is no black and white, just people doing something with their own reasons.

- Learn an instrument, i don't care what. You might not have a talent for music, but it sure can boost up your confidence. If you want to impress a lady, this might work to. Here's a little secret: a lot of women prefer a guy who can play piano than the one who plays guitar.

- Be smart and be dependable. Smart doesn't mean only in academic term. Be knowledgeable, broaden your vision, make useful of any information. Learn how to use tool, learn how to fix stuff. It will be useful when you grow up.

- Go outside, have an adventure, travel a lot. You will meet various people, learn many stuff, and it will make you more tolerant, more mature, and more open-minded. Who knows, maybe in your time there's no more races, just people...and aliens.

- Learn to be a gentleman. Know how to shave, to dress up, and to look good. Own a suit, a well-tailored one. Only wear white socks when you are working out or at school. Learn how to wear a tie. Be polite.

- Be truthful and only compliment when it's necessary. People respect honesty. Once you start lying, it will stay with you forever. I read a good quote once: "trust is like a paper, once it crumpled, it will never be perfect again". Keep that in mind.

- Go big with anything, have a big dream, have a great taste, look for a great women. You will never know what you can reach for. Don't set your limit too low.

- If you have passion, embrace it. Make money with it. If you haven't figured it out yet, don't worry, someday you'll know it.

- You are not driving the flying car until you prove to us that you are reliable. Yes, this rule includes the rocket bike to.

- Money is important, but it'll also brings you a lot of trouble. In your old days, you're gonna wish you have more friend, more time, more love. You'll never wish to have more work.

- You have 2 ears, 2 eyes, and 1 mouth. Use them proportionally. That means, see and hear more, don't talk too much.

- Plan ahead. Start your savings, know where you want to go, what you want to do. Don't be stingy, go treat your friends once in a while.

- When you are away, don't forget about your parents. Call us, we will always be happy to hear from you.

- If you are curious about sex, please ask your mom, not me.

There will be a lot of this along the way, but you'll learn it yourself. Don't be afraid, no matter how hard your life will be, you'll never be alone. If me and your mom still around, we will support you. I also believe you will make friends, ones who will always there for you.
Now go out there and live your life.

Me and mom need some time alone *wink *wink
